February 12, 2008 -- Arasan Chip Systems, Inc. today announced its first embedded software package offering for NAND Flash controllers, the Arasan NAND Flash File System (NFS). Completing the NAND Flash memory offering with needed embedded software, Arasan offers designers all the components required for development.
The Arasan NFS in combination with the NAND Flash IP controller provides embedded system developers with a full featured flash file system that delivers optimal performance for commercially available NAND flash devices. The NAND Flash File System simplifies the complicated task of NAND flash memory interfacing to simple memory access. The software enables system developers to rapidly deploy high-quality flash memory systems for a wide variety of applications, ranging from portable mobile systems to large network systems. Using the Arasan NFS frees system developers to choose from a variety of NAND Flash offerings in the market and select the technology that best suits their needs.
"NAND Flash memory, with ever increasing storage requirements, has become a de-facto standard in next-generation portable, mobile and embedded products, and designers are exerting significant time and energy in design to support these requirements,'' said Kevin Yee, Vice President of Marketing at Arasan. "By delivering on the promise of a 'Total IP Solution,' the flash file system and memory controller is enabling designers to go to market quickly while providing flexibility to address specific memory needs in their application.''
