November 10, 2010 -- SMSC has entered into an agreement to license certain of its 8-bit MEC1300 mobile embedded controller intellectual property (IP) to Feature Integration Technology, Inc. (Fintek), a privately held company based in Hsinchu, Taiwan. Fintek intends to utilize the technology as part of its mobile embedded controller line of products targeting notebook, netbook, smartbook and tablet platforms. As part of the agreement, SMSC will receive an undisclosed royalty associated with Fintek device sales.
