| Chips&Media Delivers Its Latest CODA9A0 to Freescale Semiconductor | | |
April 23, 2012 -- Chips&Media, Inc. has begun shipping the fully verified CODA9A0 video encoder and decoder IP to partners including Freescale, and it will be deployed in future i.MX application processors after i.MX6.
Chips&Media's CODA9A0 is a multi-standards, multi-stream video decoder/ encoder, capable of delivering industry-leading video performance for the widest supported standards. In addition, CODA9A0 supports resolutions up to 4Kx2K, which is 4 times larger than 1080p, to fully meet the advanced full HD frame packed S3D video imaging and immersive telepresencing. The core also adds ultra-low-latency coding ability, useful in a variety of real-time interactive multimedia applications, including real-time transcoding, and video conference/ communication.
"Freescale, which first licensed Chips&Media's video technology in 2005, continues to incorporate advanced Chips&Media's encoding and decoding capabilities into our i.MX applications processor platforms," said Rajeev Kumar, i.MX Product Line Manager, from Freescale Semiconductor, "Freescale's relationship with Chips&Media over the past several years has allowed us to differentiate our product offering by leveraging the superior multimedia processing performance."
