May 22, 2012 -- Energy Micro AS has announced a strategic relationship with Spectrum Design Solutions, a division of Digi International that provides wireless design services. The two companies will work closely together to solve wireless design challenges using the Energy Micro EFM32 Gecko range of microcontrollers.

"Working with Energy Micro not only gives us access to a range of microcontrollers that is ideally suited to our core area of expertise in wireless systems; it also allows us to talk directly with the engineers who created the EFM32 series to solve our customers' design challenges more quickly and smoothly," said Mike Burica, Managing Director, Spectrum Design Solutions.

Energy Micro's Gecko microcontroller family consists of a range of more than 240 device variants based on the ARM Cortex processor cores. Benchmarked to consume just a quarter of the energy of other 8-bit, 16-bit and 32-bit MCUs, the EFM32 Gecko series can extend the lifetime of a typical battery operated application by at least 300%.
