June 28, 2011 -- AuthenTec, Inc. today announced that Ralink Technology Corp. will utilize its SafeXcel EIP-93 packet engine for enhanced security in Ralink's xDSL Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) ICs. AuthenTec's SafeXcel EIP-93, the smallest IPsec and SSL-capable packet engine, along with AuthenTec's QuickSec software toolkit, helps enable VPN security in xDSL Wi-Fi gateways requiring strong security.
"Our goal was to create a very capable and secure IC that would allow the leading gateway providers to bring products quickly to market while meeting today's new IPsec standards, which is why we chose to integrate AuthenTec's proven packet engine in our new xDSL CPE chipsets," said David Borison, Vice President of Marketing at Ralink. "AuthenTec has earned its strong reputation in embedded security, and we appreciate their technical support as we add this new IC to our expanding xDSL CPE products."
The SafeXcel EIP-93 packet engine is a comprehensive security accelerator, providing balance between gate-count, performance and available algorithms. It helps accelerate the protocol functionality for Internet Protocol Security (IPsec), Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), Transport Layer Security (TLS), Datagram TLS (DTLS), and Secure Realtime Transport Protocol (SRTP). The engine supports a wide variety of today's most important crypto algorithms, including DES, 3DES, AES 128/ 192/ 256, SHA1, SHA-224/ 256, AES-CCM, ARC4 and MD5.
Ralink's total networking solution, centered on ADSL/VDSL customer premises equipment (CPE) chipsets, supports a wide range of applications: single-port bridges, routers, 802.11n gateways. Moreover, Ralink offers a comprehensive software design kit fully compliant with telecommunications standards.
