July 19, 2011 -- QuickLogic Corp. has announced that its ArcticLink II VX2 and VX4 semiconductor platforms and MDDO (Mobile Device Display Optimizer) software have been field-proven to support the Android 3.0 mobile operating system. Mobile designers at leading OEMs have confirmed that QuickLogic's ArcticLink II VX2 and VX4 solution platforms containing QuickLogic's VEE (Visual Enhancement Engine) and DPO (Display Power Optimizer) technologies, including all required drivers and software, are Android 3.0 OS-compatible.

QuickLogic's VEE technology, based on the iridix core from Apical, Ltd. greatly enhances the viewability of LCD and OLED displays under challenging lighting conditions such as bright ambient light by dynamically optimizing video characteristics to provide a natural viewing experience based on the human visual system. Used together with VEE, QuickLogic's DPO technology enables system-level battery life extension by an average of 25% without compromising the user experience.

QuickLogic's MDDO software allows the QuickLogic CSSP to communicate directly with the host system through standard Android APIs to collect system data, such as ambient light and display backlight levels, which is essential for the proper operation of the VEE and DPO technologies. QuickLogic's MDDO software removes the challenge of designing and verifying these communication paths from the system designer resulting in substantial development time and cost savings.
